An agency and a founder-led business may use the same tool while needing very different first steps. The setup experience should match the customer's job, rather than showing every feature in the same order.
Progress update from 13 March 2026. Onboarding was in development; linked guides cover today's setup.
TL;DR
Clipflow updates
- Agency onboarding was being refined around client setup and portal use.
- The team was connecting advertising promises to the first useful experience in the product.
- Founder-led onboarding calls remained a way to understand customer needs directly.
Putting it to work
- Start with the next real piece of content, not every possible configuration.
- Decide who needs to work inside the project and who only needs to review it.
Set up around the next handoff
For an agency, the first useful job may be giving a client access to a finished edit. For a business owner, it may be handing an answer to the editor with a clear brief. Those are different starting points even if both teams make videos.
Use the current client portals guide for the agency review path. For the founder's brief, the Project Pages guide covers keeping scripts and references with the work.
Avoid setting up parts of the system simply because they are available. Put one real assignment through the workflow, check where people hesitate and correct that handoff before adding more complexity.
Teach the decision people need to make
Make instructions specific to the customer's role. An agency needs to understand adding clients; a founder with an internal team needs to understand assigning work and reviewing it.
Explain those steps in the language your team already uses. Give each person a concrete job and a visible result to check. A first successful handoff tells you more about a useful setup than completing a long list of settings without running any work through them.
