A polished homepage can still leave people unsure what the business does. We received that uncomfortable feedback about our own website. The team had built a stronger content operation, but needed to explain the product more clearly to the people who might use it.
Progress update from 18 October 2025. The conversion concerns and customer responses were the team's observations at that time, not a measured claim about today's website.
TL;DR
Clipflow updates
- Feedback showed that some people did not understand the offer from the new homepage.
- The team had developed its content production process during a concentrated marketing period.
- More direct outreach and clearer product demonstrations became priorities.
Putting it to work
- Show the customer's task and the product's role in completing it.
- Test an explanation with someone outside the team before producing more versions.
Show what changes for the customer
There was a gap between our understanding and a visitor's understanding. People close to a product can see how its parts fit together; a new visitor needs that connection made explicit.
For a content system, a useful demonstration might begin with a familiar problem: the editor has a finished video, but nobody knows which caption was approved. Show where the approved material belongs and how the next person finds it.
Keep the demonstration centred on that job. A tour of every menu asks the viewer to assemble the value themselves. One clear example can explain the handoff, the decision and the outcome the tool supports.
Build the script around that sequence in the project page, with the customer problem at the top. That gives the editor a reason for each screen shown.
Check understanding before increasing volume
The team credited the marketing period with learning how to produce more content and improving its on-camera work. Those gains were useful, but did not settle the question of whether the offer was understood.
Show the next explanation to somebody who does not already know the product. Ask them what it does, who it is for and what they would do next. Listen for the gap between their answer and the intended message.
Revise that gap before creating another batch. A working production process makes changes easier to carry through; the explanation still needs to give the right person a clear reason to care.
