Explain the customer outcome before asking for their time

A busy customer is unlikely to care about helping you build a product before they understand how it helps them. Our earlier outreach asked people to help shape a product before making the customer outcome clear.

Explain the customer outcome before asking for their time

A busy customer is unlikely to care about helping you build a product before they understand how it helps them. Our earlier outreach asked people to help shape a product before making the customer outcome clear.

Progress update from 22 November 2025. We were refining customer outreach.

TL;DR

Clipflow updates

  • The team was revisiting an earlier outreach effort that had not produced the intended bookings.
  • Messaging was shifting from helping build the tool to explaining a useful customer outcome.
  • Existing customer examples offered more concrete evidence than the initial beta request.

Putting it to work

  • Begin with the interruption or decision your audience recognizes.
  • Use an accurate example to support the explanation, then offer a relevant next step.

Make the reason to care visible

For a business making content, the problem might be the founder spending an evening chasing edit feedback. Show that situation before explaining a feature. The viewer can then judge whether the improvement matters to their own week.

Our earlier outreach had asked people to help shape a beta product before making that outcome clear. People may be willing to give feedback, but a busy buyer still needs to understand what is useful now.

Keep the audience, problem and example in the brief. The Project Pages guide explains giving the editor access to that context.

Let the evidence support the claim

If a customer example is available, describe what actually happened without implying every reader will get the same result. A precise account of the workflow is more helpful than a broad promise to transform the business.

Then choose the next action that fits the explanation. Someone who recognizes the problem can learn more or start a relevant conversation without first being asked to care about your product-development process.
